Again, compassion is a word who’s root is important.

I think it was Osho who once said, to love is human, to be compassionate, divine.

The word comes from two latin words.

com, means “with,” and passion derives from passio meaning “suffering.”

Passio comes from the verb patior “to suffer,” or, “I suffer.” The word patient also uses this verb, patient meaning “one who suffers.”

The best known example would be The Passion of Christ, the suffering of Christ.

Its correct definition seems to be when one is “with the suffering” of another being, as opposed to a part of their suffering.

To be detached, but detached with love, as opposed to aloof.
